Hi Cole,
We met at LAX a couple of weeks ago when you were on your way to Virginia (I think).
I want you to know, that talking to you was one of the highlights of my trip to Arizona.
I browesed through your website and your nature photography brought back a fond memory of my son’s nature photography!
He took about 50 pictures of a squrile. Squrill on the ground, squirill leaning on a tree, squirill half way up the tree, squirill on a limb and on and on.
I enjoyed your pictures of Archery camp and it too brought back memories of my youth ( a million years ago) when I was still on the reservation and had my first bow. I have not pulled a bow in many years and most likely the arrow would fall at my feet!
By the way, I too was on the line (somewhere) to get Pres. Carter to sign my book! Small world!
Hopefully, I will finish the book I am writing by the end of the year and I would be proud to give you one of the first five copies (Author’s copies) off the press. It’s an historical novel that spans 2,000 years and it almost feels like it’s going to take that long to finish it!

I looked at the many pictures you have on your websight and truly enjoyed my visit to this sight.
It was my pleasure talking to you at the airport, so much better than reading a magazine.

Wow! Cole, you have grown into a handsome and remarkable young man. I remember you quite well, and how excitedly you shared one of Mattie’s poems with me, while I was in California and touring for Mattie’s “Just Peace” book. I have also shared the story (quite often) of when you asked about the types of things that Micah (Mattie’s service dog, now mine) did for Mattie. When I said Mattie taught him to sort laundry into dark/left or light/right piles for him, you wanted to know if that was because of the physical limitations of Mattie’s disability. You cracked up laughing when I said, “No, it was due to adolescence inclinations of being a teenager. Why would Mattie do a chore that he could get his dog to do for him, while he played Gameboy?” You just laughed and laughed. Hoping you are well, and so happy to see that you are looking happy and good, and continuing to go to book signings! Peace to you, and your family.

Cole, Ilia and Family,

That was a beautiful video and interview. As a conservative myself, let me assure you that compassion and sensitivity to the needs of others is found in people who have many different beliefs. We don’t need to agree with everyone to share our hopes, dreams and vision for a better tomorrow. I am so glad that you have had one more opportunity to share your great love with people. Give Ilia a hug and kiss for us. We just lost Kodiak, our 13 year old therapy dog last week and it has been very sad. Seeing you with Ilia brings back many great memories that we have had with our own best friend.

I saw you on Fox last night, and then found this website through a friend. I think it’s awesome you are homeschooling! I have 2 special needs kids and homeschool as well. It can be a wonderful way to help our special guys and gals. It’s not for everyone, but I think it’s great you’re doing the best for your man Cole!

Cole,

Keep working hard, buddy! My little guy,4, also has cerebral palsy. He had the same surgery from Dr. Nuzzo in May. You are soooo lucky to have Ilia to help you through all of your therapies and Dr.’s appointments. Sounds like you are a pretty brave guy! I always pray that my Trevor will walk and run and jump and play…and now I will pray for you, too!

The van was a double job, done by Ability Center in Orange County (www.abilitycenter.com) and Vantage Mobility (www.vantagemobility) in Arizona. I’m not sure why it was done this way, I only know we LOVE it!!!

I just posted this on Lance Weir’s wall over on Facebook, and he asked me if the conversion part was done at Aero Mobility, since that’s where his latest one was done. I’ve been following the story, but couldn’t tell if that’s where the Honda dealer took it.
